Come Learn With Me in Person

Practical workshops for people who want learning to feel more meaningful, engaging, human — and alive.

Sometimes you need a Zoom call and a good brainstorm. And sometimes you need to get out from behind the screen, spend an afternoon with other interesting people, try things with your own hands, ask a million questions, and remember what learning is supposed to feel like.

That's what these workshops are for.

This fall, I'm teaching three in-person workshops at Foothill Frolic Farm & Forest School in Kingsport, Tennessee, where I've had the wonderful opportunity to help develop a new farm-and-forest-based learning program from the ground up. We'll use the farm, forest, schoolhouse, each other — and whatever questions walk through the door with us — as part of the learning.

These are not four-hour lectures. We'll talk, experiment, move around, question things, practice, problem-solve, and leave with ideas you can actually use.

Teachers are welcome. Homeschool parents are welcome. Co-op leaders are welcome. Microschool and alternative-school folks are welcome. Curious humans who work with kids are welcome. No special experience required.

Want to Do All Three?

I would love that. These workshops absolutely stand on their own, but together they begin to form a much bigger picture:

"How do we create learning environments where young people are curious, capable, connected, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in what they're doing?"

That's the work I'm most interested in.

The Setting

Why Are We Meeting at a Farm?

Because we're going to talk about education in a place where education is actually being reimagined.

Foothill Frolic Farm & Forest School is a working farm-and-forest learning environment in Kingsport, Tennessee, and is serving as a living laboratory for many of the ideas we'll explore together.

Regenerate Education Lab has partnered with Foothill Frolic to help design its project-based curriculum, learning systems, educator tools, and Learning Expeditions.

That means instead of talking theoretically about what an outdoor learning environment could look like or how a meaningful project might work, we can walk around, look at things, notice problems, imagine possibilities, and use the environment itself as part of our work.

Real place. Real questions. Real application.

That's my favorite way to learn.

Who Is This For?

You might be:

  • A classroom teacher who wants learning to feel meaningful again
  • A homeschool parent looking for more confidence and fresh ideas
  • The person who somehow ended up running the homeschool co-op
  • A forest school or nature-based educator
  • A microschool founder
  • A tutor, mentor, youth worker, or program leader
  • Someone trying to create an entirely different kind of school
  • A parent who simply loves thinking deeply about how children learn

You do not have to identify as a professional educator. You just need to care about creating better learning experiences for young people.

Coming From Out of Town?

Make a little trip out of it.

Foothill Frolic Farm & Forest School is in Kingsport, in beautiful Northeast Tennessee.

And if you're traveling in for a workshop, Johnson City makes a really fun home base. It's where Regenerate Education Lab is headquartered — and I happen to know some excellent places to eat, wander, grab coffee, listen to music, enjoy the mountains, and generally make a weekend of your visit.

If you're coming from out of town, tell me. I'm happy to share my personal recommendations for where to stay and what to do while you're here.

Debbie DeLisle

Hi, I'm Debbie.

I'm the founder of Regenerate Education Lab, and I've spent more than 17 years designing and leading learning environments built around meaningful work, relationships, nature, community, curiosity, and real-world problem solving.

I've been a classroom teacher, school founder and administrator, curriculum designer, educator mentor, project designer, community organizer, and probably a dozen other things that don't fit neatly on a résumé.

These days, I'm especially interested in helping educators and families take all the beautiful ideas we have about what education could be and figure out: Okay. But how do we actually DO it? That's what we'll work on together.

I don't want you leaving one of my workshops with 47 pages of notes you'll never look at again. I want you leaving thinking: "Ohhhh. I can actually do this."
